A PLC will tell you exactly what it thinks is happening. The skill is knowing whether to believe it. An input light that stays dark could indicate a failed sensor, a broken wire, a dead module, or a blown supply, and a sequence that stalls on step three could indicate a field device that never confirmed or logic that was never going to advance. Working out which, without pulling the machine apart, is what this course teaches.
You will troubleshoot and remedy faults in programmable logic controller systems using digital multimeters, PLC software, and the controller's own status indicators, working systematically from the system level down to the individual component. Coverage includes the PLC power supply and power distribution system, the processor module, discrete input and output modules, the chassis, and discrete field I/O devices. You will practice on realistic applications: multi-step machine-sequence logic programs driving electro-pneumatic actuators and on/off motor control systems.
This course prepares you to test for the Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) C-208 Programmable Controller Troubleshooting 1 certification.
