Automation begins with a machine knowing what is in front of it. Sensors are how it finds out, and choosing the wrong one builds a fault into the cell on day one: an inductive sensor watching for a plastic part, a photoelectric eye pointed into a dusty bay, a reed switch mounted where the magnetic field never quite reaches. Picking the right sensor and wiring it into logic that does the right thing is the foundation of every automated sequence.
This hands-on course covers connecting, adjusting, and operating discrete on/off electronic sensors and relay control sequence circuits. You will work with inductive, capacitive, magnetic reed, photoelectric, and Hall effect sensors, along with limit switches, manual switches, control relays and timer relays, indicators, DC motors, electro-pneumatic solenoid directional control valves, and pneumatic actuators. You will learn to select the right sensor type for an application, read ladder logic circuit diagrams, and interpret relay-control sequence circuits found in industrial equipment.
This course prepares you to test for the Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) C-205 Sensor Logic Systems 1 certification.
