Every machine on a modern production floor runs on numbers: how hot, how fast, how full, how far. When one of those numbers is wrong, the line makes bad product or stops altogether, and the person who can find the problem is the one everyone is waiting on. A controller reads those numbers, a screen shows them to the operator, and somebody has to know how the two fit together.
You will program, operate, and troubleshoot PLC logic that uses analog instructions, and build PanelView Plus HMI projects in FactoryTalk View Studio Machine Edition with displays, text, display list selector, dynamic, pushbutton, multistate indicator, numeric input and output, and local message display objects, plus alarm, diagnostic, and information messages. You will configure CompactLogix analog input and output modules, work with analog sensors and transducers, apply comparison instructions for on/off control, control motor speed with a variable speed drive, regulate temperature with PWM and add-on instructions, and run a stepper motor with homing and absolute and relative moves. You will troubleshoot PLC faults and power distribution, test discrete and analog I/O, use force functions, read controller objects with GSV and SSV instructions, and follow a six-step method with Find, Go To, and Cross Reference across analog loops, PWM, drive, and stepper applications.
This course prepares you to test for the Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) C-309 Programmable Controller Systems 2 certification. This course covers FactoryTalk View Studio application displays and objects, Panelview Plus Application Editing, alarms, Diagnostic and Information Messages, Analog Sensors, Analog IO configuration and operation, Analog Tag Structures and parameterization. As well as PLC Troubleshooting, IO testing, PLC System Troubleshooting Techniques and Tools, Analog IO and Application Troubleshooting.
