This two-week Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training program is proficiency-based, allowing students to progress as skills are mastered. Training prepares students to operate vehicles requiring a Class B CDL, including concrete mixer trucks, snow plows, garbage trucks, and buses. Students develop skills in backing, turning, vehicle inspections, and safe driving on rural and suburban roads. Instruction includes classroom learning, simulators, and hands-on driving with full-size trucks. The program follows Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) standards. Students must demonstrate proficiency in each skill before testing. Upon completion, students take the vehicle inspection, DOT skills, and road tests at Hawkeye.
