Instructor Class Access Basic Menu Functions
The purpose of this access allows you to keep our contact information current, look at your past and future rosters which gives you the contact information of students registered for your class. Other options are recording attendance, which you may be asked to complete. If the case, further instructions will be given further into the document.

Go to www.hawkeyecollege.edu/ce

Once your new hire paper work has been processed, your login information is sent to you via two separate emails. One will contain “PROFILE notice from Hawkeye Community College” in the subject line, and the other will contain “PASSWORD notice from Hawkeye Community College” in the subject line. In the event that you do not receive or find these emails, first check your spam folder, if you do not see the emails please contact 319-277-2490 or email bce@hawkeyecollege.edu.

If you forget your password, but know your username, you can use the “forgot your password” link and a new one will be sent to you.




How to Contact Us
Once logged in, go to the left navigation menu and select contact us.  This will show you the contact information, office hours of operation for our frontline staff, and the physical address for our Cedar Falls location.

How to View Your Instructor Profile
Select the My Profile link found in the left navigation pane. 


This will show you what Hawkeye has in our system for your information. If you update any of this information or notice an error, please contact the manager or coordinator of your program.




How to View Your Class Roster

You can view past current and future rosters buy selecting the appropriate option found in the left navigation menu


To view your current roster, select the “current rosters” link found on the left side of the page.
Select the Action button found to the left of the title for the class that you are interested in and then choose the appropriate action.



Once you select View Roster a screen will display with a list of your students and contact information.  From this screen you are able to view and print your class roster, print sign in sheet, email the students in your class(es) based on Hawkeye’s instructor email settings.
NOTE: It is against Hawkeye’s policy for you to contact individual students with information unrelated to your class.



How to E-Mail Your Class

To email students in your class select the E-Mail Students option
The next screen will allow you to email the entire class additional information they may need to know regarding your class.  You are also able to upload documents for additional resources you want students to have.

The email we have for you on file will auto populate in the Reply-to field.  Hawkeye Community College by default will also receive a copy of any emails sent to students.

How to Record Attendance

Select Record Attendance found in the left navigation menu


Add your class name or ID to help locate your class and select search. Select the class using the radio button to the left of the class



The next screen will display all class dates along with class hours based on the number of sessions and total class hours. 
Select the date for which you want to record attendance following these guidelines:
Attendance is to be taken with each class. 
Online Attendance Roster: The class dates appear; you can choose to record attendance for all
class meetings or individual classes that have met. (Attendance cannot be recorded for future class meetings) If all students attended class, submit attendance as is.
  • Click Check All
  • Click Submit
If student(s) absent, record time attended...
  • If a student did not attend class, change contact hours to 0.00.
  • If a student arrived 30 minutes late for class, deduct 30 min from the contact hours for that session



Now you will see all students registered along with the class hours for that day.  Make any adjustments needed and select submit to record that day’s hours for each student.


After attendance has been entered, Lumens displays your name and date recorded. When completed...Click Back Automatically returned to the “Class Selection for Attendance Recording” page.
 
Printed Attendance Roster: A student roster will be provided in the class packet. Complete roll call using first name only or first name and initial of last name  (Jane B or Jane K) if more than one person has the same name.  Write on the roster using the following codes or as directed by your Hawkeye contact:
Ö = Present                L = Late (put time arrived)
X = Absent                 E = Left Early (put time left)
