Industry 4.0 runs on the network. When a robot stops talking to a PLC, or an HMI goes blank, or a machine drops off the line, someone has to work out whether the problem is the cable, the IP address, the subnet, or the switch port — and on most floors, that someone is a maintenance tech, not an IT department. This course makes you that person.
You will connect, configure, monitor, and operate basic Ethernet networks in an industrial setting. That includes interpreting IP addresses and setting them on PCs, PLCs, robots, and other machines; connecting devices to a network and wiring it in a star topology; identifying topology types from a diagram; setting up and configuring a basic managed Layer 2 Ethernet switch, including its subnet and port security; and configuring a network for both static and dynamic addressing. You will also monitor and interpret switch status indicators and use management software to view network performance and diagnostics when tracing is needed.
This course prepares you to test for the Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) C-212 Ethernet Communications 1 certification.
