This hybrid course takes place over one Power Weekend and includes the following classes: Ethics, Care & Prevention of Injuries, Human Growth & Development, Anatomy & Physiology, and Theory of Coaching. Major sports issues will also be addressed throughout the course.
Please note, this program does not teach sport-specific coaching. Successful completion will allow you to apply to the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners for licensure. Upon their approval, you will be licensed to coach athletics in Iowa’s K–12 schools. Applicants who do not pass a background check will not receive licensure.
The program fee is $400 (all-inclusive), with an additional $160 fee due to the state when applying for licensure. Students must also provide two rolls of athletic tape and one roll of pre-wrap.
