In an electro-hydraulic system, a cylinder that will not extend looks the same whether the problem is a failed solenoid, a PLC output that never turned on, a limit switch out of position, a stuck valve spool, a clogged filter, or a relief valve set too low. The skill worth paying for is knowing which side of the system to test first and how to prove it before anything gets replaced.
This course covers troubleshooting and remedying faults in electro-hydraulic, PLC-controlled systems. You will follow troubleshooting safety rules, work through systems-level troubleshooting methods, and test components individually using digital multimeters and status indicators. The components covered include fixed displacement pumps, filters, relief and pressure-reducing valves, solenoid-operated directional control valves, needle and flow control valves, check valves, cylinders, motors, limit switches, electronic sensors, and PLC I/O modules. Classroom study is paired with hands-on fault-finding on live equipment.
