Pneumatic faults rarely announce themselves. A clogged filter, a drifting regulator, a leaking cylinder seal, or a restricted exhaust shows up as a machine that runs a little slower or drops a part now and then, and the station keeps producing badly until someone works out which component is actually at fault. This course teaches the diagnostic process on electro-pneumatic, PLC-controlled systems.
You will follow troubleshooting safety rules, apply systems-level troubleshooting methods, build and use troubleshooting flowcharts, and test components individually with digital multimeters and status indicators. Coverage spans air preparation with filters, regulators, and lubricators; solenoid-operated directional control valves, flow control valves, quick exhaust valves, and check valves; cylinders, including rodless types, along with shock absorbers; motors and rotary actuators; vacuum generators, cups, and switches; and the electrical side of the system, including limit switches, electronic sensors, and PLC I/O modules. You will learn to recognize the symptoms each failure produces, from filter malfunction to exhaust restrictor problems, rather than replacing parts on a hunch.
This course prepares you to test for the Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) C-304 Pneumatic Troubleshooting 1 certification.
