Hawkeye’s High School Driver Education Program provides 42 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training, and 6 hours of in-car practicum to meet Iowa DOT requirements for a Graduated Driver’s License. Students must hold an Iowa learner’s permit, have at least 10 hours of driving experience before the first class, attend all sessions, and bring their permit each time. A mandatory Zoom orientation for students and a parent/guardian will be scheduled after registration.

Please read:  Mandatory Zoom Orientation will take place on August 13, 2026 at 5:15 PM.. Look at your student's confirmation email for the link to access the meeting. Students behind-the-wheel instruction is outside of the scheduled classroom time. The student must be available to drive with an instructor after school, Monday - Friday and weekends. *** If special accommodations are required, contact accessibility@hawkeyecollege.edu at 319-296-4014, prior to the start of the class.
