Demonstrate that you have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel 2019 by completing a Microsoft Excel Series including Excel Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3! Learn how to enter data, work with numbers, edit worksheets, and change the appearance of worksheets. Acquire the ability to work with formulas and functions, format cell contents, create and edit charts, manage multi-sheet workbooks, and apply advanced functions and data analysis. You will also learn to create tables and outlines, utilize graphics and templates, use lookup functions, pivot tables, macros, advanced formatting and analysis tools, and how to collaborate and share workbooks in Excel. Three textbooks are included.

Certificate : IET Commercial Driver License (CDL) Certificate

Description: This Class A Commercial Driver's License training program is designed for Adult Education Literacy (AEL) students who would like to train for a high-demand career in a short-term time frame. Student's will receive contexualized learning from English Learning standpoint as well as while in Adult Literacy program. Students obtain vocational CDL Training while learning English or completing high school diploma. CDL training will be on 10 speeds and automatics. The program focuses on developing safe driving skills including backing, turning, and driving on rural and suburban roads. You will receive hands-on training using full-size semitrailers and virtual driving simulators. Upon completion, you will take your vehicle inspection, DOT skills, and driving tests at Hawkeye to obtain your Class A CDL. You receive training daily on your schedule, choose your times: morning 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., afternoon 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. or evening 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Graduates can find employment in a variety of areas including, but not limited to, a truck driver, spotter, shag driver, and many more. Per FMCSA rules students are required to complete and pass the Clearninghouse, Department of Transportation (DOT) long form physical and pre-employment drug screening <B><I>before<P><P> start of the class. Arrowhead Medical Center is Hawkeye's approved vendor for DOT pre-employment drug screening and may be used for DOT physical as well. Description: This program is offered as Intergrated English Literacy and Civics Education Program. The program generally prepares sponsored students to apply technical knowledge and skills in the building, inspecting, and maintaining of structures and related properties while also developing language skills. Key vocational content includes:
  • Basic Safety: Presents basic jobsite safety information to prepare workers for the construction environment. Describes the common causes of workplace incidents and accidents and how to avoid them. Introduces common personal protective equipment, including equipment required for work at height, and its proper use. Information related to safety in several specific environments, including welding areas and confined spaces, is also provided. OSHA 10 
  • Introduction to Construction Math: Reviews basic math skills related to the construction trades and demonstrates how they apply to the trades. Covers multiple systems of measurement, decimals, fractions, and basic geometry.
  • Introduction to Hand Tools: Introduces common hand tools used in a variety of construction crafts. Identifies tools and how to safely use them. Also presents proper hand tool maintenance.
  • Introduction to Power Tools: Identifies and describes the operation of many power tools common in the construction environment. Provides instruction on proper use, as well as safe-handling guidelines and basic maintenance.
  • Construction Drawings: Introduces the basic terms, components, and symbols of construction drawings, as well as the most common drawing types. Also covers the interpretation and use of drawing dimensions.
  • Basic Rigging (elective): Provides basic information related to rigging and rigging hardware, such as slings, rigging hitches, and hoists. Emphasizes safe working habits in the vicinity of rigging operations.
  • Basic Communication Skills: Provides techniques for effective communication on the job. Includes examples that emphasize the importance of both written and verbal communication skills. Describes the importance of reading skills in the construction industry and discusses effective telephone and email communication skills.
  • Basic Employability Skills: Describes the opportunities offered by the construction trades. Discusses critical thinking and essential problem-solving skills. Also identifies and discusses positive social skills and presents information on computer systems and their industry applications.
  • Introduction to Materials Handling: Describes the hazards associated with handling materials and provides techniques to avoid both injury and property damage. Also introduces common materialhandling equipment.
Completing this curriculum gives the trainee the basic skills needed to continue education in any construction craft area he or she chooses. This course is recognized as carpentry pre-apprenticeship program. Futhermore, students who complete all modules sucesfully will receive NCCER Core Curriculum: Introductory Craft Skills industry recognized certification.

Series : Coaching Authorization

Tuition $400.00

Description: This course takes place over two weekends, called Power Weekends and includes the following classes: Ethics, Care & Prevention of Injuries, Human Growth & Development, Anatomy & Physiology, and Theory of Coaching. Every effort will be made to bring major sports issues to the class. This program does not teach sport specific coaching. Successful completion of this course will allow you to apply to the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners Licensure and upon their approval, you will be licensed to coach athletics in Iowa's K-12 schools. If you do not pass a background check you will not receive licensure. There is an additional fee of $160 that will be due to the state when applying for licensure. The $375 is an all-inclusive fee other than the $160. You must provide two rolls of athletic tape and a roll of pre-wrap. Online will begin October 7, 2022.  Class sessions will be October 22, 8 am - 2:30 pm, October 23, 8 am - 4:30 pm, and November 5, 8 am - 5 pm.
