Employees are required to be dressed and groomed in an appropriate business professional manner that is neat and clean, and shall refrain from dressing in a manner that reflects negatively upon the College. My Hawkeye is an online resource provided by Hawkeye Community College and used to report hours for payment, receive messages, and other campus resources. My Hawkeye can be accessed at www.my.hawkeyecollege.edu with login and multi-factor authentication required.Pay Schedule
Hawkeye pays on a bi-monthly basis, the 15th and last day of each month. A pay schedule is available upon request from the HR Liaison.Payment
There are two methods of processing pay: online self-service time entry or a Stipend.
Online self-service time entry reports actual instruction hours through My Hawkeye. Refer to Self-Service Instructions. Time entered should be to the closest 15-minute increment. Example of Time Entry:
- Arrive 7:02 am, Enter 7:00 am
- Arrive 6:08 pm, Enter 6:15 pm
- Class Start: 8/19 Class End: 9/10
- Total Payment: $400
- Payment 1: Worked during pay period 8/16-8/31
- Payment 1: Paid $200 on 9/15
- Payment 2: Worked during pay period 9/1-9/15
- Payment 2: Paid $200 on 9/30
In the event of a missed deadline or time was not entered, contact the HR Liaison or your contact for an alternate method.
Earning Statement
An earning statement is viewable through My Hawkeye and available the day before payment (Refer to Self-Service Instructions).Personnel Handbook
It is required to review and acknowledge the Personnel Handbook located in My Hawkeye on an annual basis. Review when notified or continuously as needed.CONTRACTED TRAINERS
Independent contractor or self-employed.W-9 Form
Independent contractors or self-employed instructors are required to fill out a W-9 with the knowledge that withholding and/or taxes will not be taken by Hawkeye Community College. A new form is to be completed when changes occur to name, address, or business status.Requesting Payment
Hawkeye can provide a Contracted Instructional Services and/or Honorariums form to request payment. This can be completed for billing purposes instead of providing an invoice. To obtain this form, contact the HR Liaison or your contact.If providing an invoice to request payment for services rendered. Invoices should have detailed information listing (class name, class date, class location, number of students, hours of service, rate of pay, etc.). An Invoice template can be provided by request from the HR Liaison.
Direct Deposit ACH
Hawkeye requires the completion of the ACH form to provide a direct deposit payment. A form will be provided or can be requested from HR Liaison.Class Details
Classroom Folder
For classroom and building specific information, a classroom folder is provided in most Business & Community Education classrooms at the instructor station.Class Packet Pickup
Class packets are Hawkeye’s link to the classroom and important to daily initiatives. These packets may contain the following items: welcome script, class roster, student sign-in, blank registration forms, name tents, student evaluations, instructor evaluations, certificates (if required), copies, or books required for the class.Class packets can be picked up at designated locations, placed in classrooms prior to class, or requests other arrangements be made. Class packets are available two (2) business days prior to the start of class for pickup when not at Business & Community Education If additional lead time or items are needed, please contact the location Assistant.
Books & Materials
Supporting books & materials will be purchased and/or printed by Hawkeye Community College unless a prior agreement exists. To make sure these are available for the class, a two (2) week notice is needed for ordering and/or printing.Prior to Class
Arrive in a timely manner before the start of class to welcome students, check the classroom is adequately arranged for learning, and check audio visual equipment, as needed. If supporting files are necessary for computer training, allow additional time to load files, learn equipment, and assist the students as they login.Classroom Setup
It is the responsibility of the instructor to setup and return the room to the original setup in order for the classroom to be available for other classes. Questions are to be directed to the location Assistant.Student Registration
All students in attendance for Business & Community Education classes are to be pre-registered and listed on the class roster provided in your class packet. Direct students to the front desk or location assistant if they are not listed on the class roster or have changes in contact information. Student Payment
Pre-payment for Business & Community Education classes is required for a student, employer, or agency. Students not pre-paid should be directed to the Business & Community Education front desk during business hours. If no staff are available to assist, please contact 319-277-2490 and make a note on the class roster.Certificates
Certificates are made available for students on the final day of class with a passing grade for specific classes or programs. The certificates reflect student name, class name, continuing education units (C.E.U.), date(s), and instructor name. Please distribute if included in the class packet. Certificates for students who are absent, contain incorrect details are to be returned in the class packet to the location Assistant. The certificate will be mailed to the student.Duplicate certificates can be obtained at the cost of $10 per certificate. Refer students to the location Assistant or call 319-277-2490.
Student Evaluations
Student evaluations are to be handed out on the final day of class. Feedback is invaluable for continuous improvement and offerings. Completion is optional and anonymous for the student. Specific instructions are provided for online submission, along with an envelope in the class packet for paper submissions. The envelope is to be returned with the class packet.After Class
At the conclusion of class, please be available for discussion with students and answer additional questions that may not have been answered during class. Please log off the computers, pick up, reset the classroom as necessary, sign the attendance sheet (if needed), and return the class packet.Student Attendance
Attendance is to be taken with each class. A student roster will be provided in the class packet. Complete roll call using first name only or first name and initial of last name (Jane B or Jane K) if more than one person has the same name. Hawkeye has parking and traffic rules to:- Maximize safety

- Provide the best use of available parking for all students, staff, and visitors

Posting Information
Any flyer, announcement, or advertisement must be approved by the location Assistant before being posted in designated areas of Hawkeye facilities. Anything posted in non-designated areas, without prior approval will be removed promptly.Lost & Found
Hawkeye is not responsible for lost and found items. Items will be held for 30 calendar days, after that time, they will be donated or thrown away. Please contact the location Assistant to claim or turn in items.Storage

Smoking and all forms of tobacco use are not allowed inside any Hawkeye owned or leased building, vehicle, or on any Hawkeye property. It is in the best interest of Hawkeye to provide a tobacco-free environment in public educational facilities for students, employees, and visitors.Smoking is considered to be the inhaling, exhaling, burning, or carrying any lit cigar, cigarette, pipe, other tobacco product in any manner in any form, including chewing tobacco. The use of electronic cigarettes, vaping devices, and any other device that allows you to smoke or simulates smoking is also prohibited.
Hawkeye has had a long standing policy of being a tobacco-free campus. The use of any tobacco product or any device that allows you to smoke or simulates smoking is not allowed on Hawkeye property. You must completely leave Hawkeye property to smoke, use tobacco, or any device that simulates smoking.
