This intesive AAPC course will teach principles of medical coding related to the three main code books: CPT, ICD-10-CM Code Set and HCPCS Level II. This course is for anyone who is preparing for a career in medical coding for a physician's office. A foundation in medical terminology and anatomy will be taught online with modules that are 40 hours each. Access to online modules will be given January 29, 2018. 80 hours of classroom instruction will be provided on coding by a certified AAPC instructor. Classroom sessions begin March 5, 2018. Books, AAPC student membership, the CPC Certification Exam, and an AAPC Practicum are included in this course. The Practicum is comprised of 600 medical records to be coded, which allows an individual to complete the equivalent of 1 year professional coding experience.
