Monitoring of Nitrous Oxide Inhalation Analgesia

This instructional unit provides the participant with an awareness of the indications and contraindications for nitrous oxide use, a working knowledge of the equipment, an understanding of the procedure for administrating nitrous oxide analgesia, and prepares the participant to monitor nitrous oxide inhalation analgesia.

Minimum number of total hours: Didactic hours: 2 Lab hours: 1 hour in the office where RDH/RDA is employed Minimum number of patient experiences: Clinical/Patient 5 patient experiences in the dental office under observational supervision

Continuing Education Units: 5 (2hrs didactic and 3 hrs. laboratory/clinical)

Notice

Please read:  Participants must comply with 1 (one) of the following: a. Hold an active dental hygiene license in Iowa; or b. Hold an active dental assistant registration, and comply with at least one of the following: (1)Be a graduate of an accredited school; or (2)Be currently certified by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB); or (3)Have at least three months of clinical practice as a registered dental assistant; or (4)Have at least three months of clinical practice as a dental assistant in a state that does not require registration.
