By the time you leave this class you will have improved your driving abilities and have a greater understanding of vehicle handling and gain the experience to prevent, detect, and correct loss of vehicle traction. Whether you are new to the road or a veteran driver, this defensive driving course will give you the skills to handle a vehicle in adverse conditions like hydroplaning or hitting a patch of black ice. You will gain the skills to drive in all types of road conditions using the Skid Monster, a specially equipped vehicle that simulates adverse driving conditions at highway road speeds up to 60 mph. Law enforcement and other public safety personnel use the same simulators in car handling trainings. Note: You must have a valid driver’s license or learner’s permit. If under 18 years of age you must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver. View the Skid Monster in action during a Smart Driving: Defensive Driving class.
